Amanda McCleery, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. McCleery grew up in the Midwest, riding her Quarter horse Katie and competing in 4-H horse shows and junior rodeos. While earning her bachelor’s degree in biology from Kansas State University, she ran varsity track and field and cross country, achieving NCAA Division I All American status twice in her career. After graduating from Kansas State, Dr. McCleery received a master’s degree in genetics and her DVM from Texas A&M University, graduating with top honors.
Dr. McCleery’s husband is a professor of wildlife ecology at the University of Florida. They live in Archer along with their son Jack, their dog Blu, and their donkeys, Mr. White and Buck. They enjoy traveling whenever they can, seeing Europe and spending time at Professor McCleery's research sites in southern Africa.

Jennifer Larson

Office Manager

Jennifer started working with Dr. McCleery in January of 2021. With a long history of working with and training horses, as well as her background working in a dental office, she is a great asset to the team, both in the field and in the office setting. Jennifer is committed to our clients and assisting them in any way she can! She is currently working towards her Veterinary Technician certification, as well as managing the day to day in the office, when she is not out assisting Dr. McCleery on the truck. Jennifer enjoys riding her horse, Toby, in her free time as well as kayaking at the Santa Fe River. She has a sweet dog named Bayou, and an adventurous kitty named Stinky.

Kat Smith

Equine Veterinary Technician
Mandi joined McCleery’s team in October 2021 after wanting to branch out from the hospital into the ambulatory setting. She received her associates in veterinary technology from SPC in south Florida where she worked in a small animal practice. She then made her way into Horse Country where she decided to get into large animal medicine. Mandi just finished her undergrad in equine science at Central Florida and plans to apply to vet school in the future! When she’s not working with Dr. McCleery, she enjoys being on her quaint six acres in Ocala with her 7 fur babies, eventing with her off the track thoroughbred Vali, or being out on the water in the Florida sun!
