Advanced Dentistry

Equine dental care is more than just floating teeth. Although removal of sharp points is important, a thorough oral exam is key to identifying and treating any additional issues a horse may have.
  • Exam: Before even starting the oral exam, we examine your horse's overall health and condition.
  • Oral speculum: Along with specialized lighting equipment, the speculum allows us to clearly examine the entire mouth.
  • Sedation: To perform a safe and thorough oral exam sedation is necessary.
  • Mirror: A small mirror is used to aid in the oral exam. A horse's mouth is a little like a dark cave and the mirror helps us identify lesions that we might otherwise miss.
